HOPE RISES IN YENAGOA AS EPIE/ATISSA DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT BECKONS

A summit to appraise and chart new ways forward to reposition  Epie/Atissa, the host of Bayelsa State Capital, for sustainable development, takes place in Yenagoa.

It is billed to commence 9a.m., June 1, 2021, a statement by Chairman of the Central Steering Committee, Chief Noble Akenge, and its Secretary, Pastor Asueni Okolobi, indicates.

The statement further indicates that Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, is expected to serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Bolaide Igali, Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Federal University of Technology, Akure, will chair the summit.

It adds that the summit which is facilitated by Prof. Steve Azaiki, the member representing Yenagoa-Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is anchored on the theme: Repositioning Epie/Atissa Kingdoms for Rapid Economic Development.

It is expected to brainstorm on various topical issues, and profer action plans for implementation, and how to sustain a united front for long term development of the Kingdoms.

Crucial aspects include socio-cultural, physical, economic and human development.  Emphasis will be placed on, the plight and future of the youth, in connection to exploring the vantage position of the  twin Kingdoms in a postmodern and post-truth information communication technology driven society.

Speakers are, Dr. Stanley Akele, CEO Food-For-All International; Dr. Billy Gillis-Harry, President of Petroleum Product Retailers; Prof. Chabovie Sorgwe, NDU and  Prof. Augustine Ikein, Ex-Dean Postgraduate School, University of Otueke.

Other speakers are Mr. Fiemeya Ayebabogha, CEO First Investment Group; Prof. Ambily Etekpe, NDU; Dr. Josephine Igodo, mini, retired Head of Service, Bayelsa State Civil Service, and Chief (Dr.) Boma Spero-Jack, Technical Adviser to Bayelsa Governor on Conflict Resolution.

HRM (King) Barr Malla Sasime, JP, Obenibe of Epie Kingdom and HRM (King) Godwin G. Igodo, Ebenibe of Atissa Kingdom are to serve as Royal Fathers of the Day.

The Central Steering Committee of the summit, implores participants to attend promptly.
